Nebraska Cancer Research data Management

The NCRC team is comprised of clinical research nurses, a data manager, long term FU data coordinator and a research assistant. We work with your oncologist to ensure that you meet the study’s eligibility criteria and that the clinical trial’s requirements are followed. Our nurses are at each of the two oncology clinics on a daily basis, screening, enrolling, and monitoring your progress.

Kelly Madcharo, JD - Director

Kelly Madcharo received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with minors in Psychology and Business. She attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1984. Kelly serves as the Director of the Nebraska Cancer Research Center and the Adolescent & Family Health Division at Lincoln Medical Education Partnership. Kelly and her husband, Mike, have two children and three pets. In her free time, she enjoys baking, spending time with her family, and is an avid KC Royals fan.

Marcia Grafe, RN – Clinical Research Nurse

Marcia Grafe received her diploma degree in registered nursing from Saint Francis School of Nursing in Grand Island, NE. Prior to coming to the Nebraska Cancer Research Center, she worked in clinical and management positions at Fullerton Memorial Hospital, Fullerton, NE; Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center, Osceola, NE; and Saint Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, NE. Marcia has two sons, one daughter and five grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, travel and spending time with family and friends.

Jennifer Mara, RN – Clinical Research Nurse

Jennifer Mara received her AAS degree in Nursing from Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE. Prior to coming to NCRC, she had worked for 12 years in the Operating Room at Saint Luke's in Kansas City, MO; Bryan Health Center, Lincoln Surgical Hospital, and Southwest Lincoln Surgery Center in Lincoln, NE. She has also had two years of Dermatology nursing experience with a Dermatologist in Lincoln, NE. Jennifer enjoys spending time with her nephew, Lucas, and her dogs, Hemi and Riley. In her free time she enjoys being in the outdoors, fishing, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Sheri Shaffer, RN – Clinical Research Nurse

Sheri Shaffer received her Bachelor of Arts in Nursing degree from Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois in 1986. She went on to obtain a Master of Science degree, with a focus in adult health, from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois in 1998. Sheri has worked in inpatient oncology, home infusion, and outpatient oncology administering chemotherapy . She has spent the last few years working specifically with patients who have urological malignancies. She has held her certification in oncology through the Oncology Nursing Society since 1998. Sheri just relocated to Lincoln from southwest Florida with her boyfriend and two cats. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors biking, golfing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
