CSCI’s IT Solution for Leading San Diego Legal Services Firm

A leading San Diego legal services firm with 50 employees had outgrown its part-time IT administrator and was searching for a cost-effective solution to achieve stability in both its network and desktop environments. The firm wanted to eliminate the need to hire more employees to maintain or service their IT infrastructure, hardware and software. They were looking to trim payroll in their IT department as well.

Challenge:

CSCI engineers had to evaluate the company network, assess the company needs and implement a custom solution for this legal services firm without downtime or any impact on its business. Any downtime for the firm would result in a significant loss of revenue and productivity.

Solution:

After a detailed network health analysis as well as evaluating all the hardware, operating systems and peripherals, the CSCI team determined that the firm needed a more reliable network infrastructure as well as up-to-date desktop hardware, software and dependable backups. After reviewing the firm’s environment, CSCI recommended an HP Proliant Server to support the critical applications, professional grade desktop operating systems and software, and an overhaul of the backup solution. CSCI also recommended a cloud solution for one of their applications.

CSCI engineers then helped implement the new technology into the existing environment, transition end users, and decommission old technology. The mission critical applications were moved to latest technology and existing technology was utilized for less-intensive purposes.

The CSCI team also recommended a cost-effective maintenance package where CSCI engineers would regularly maintain the network, hardware and software and proactively make updates and repairs to maximize the company’s investment in their IT systems.

In order to minimize any impact on the client’s ongoing business, CSCI engineers worked after hours as well as implementing a “hot spare” program for desktop resources.

Results:

After the implementation of CSCI recommendations, this leading San Diego legal firm has a faster, more reliable and fully redundant network, professionally maintained with regular scheduled backups—all done in a cost-effective manner by CSCI engineers. The firm eliminated the need for an IT department since they outsourced their IT services to CSCI. They can now focus on their legal business and not the frequent interruptions of an unstable IT environment.
